The Weekly Summary
In the general news, the world was terrorized again by radical Islam. In France, factory workers were killed and beheaded, and in Tunisia, 39 tourists on the beach were shot to death by a lone ISIS supporter. Elsewhere, the U.S. announced that it is sending tanks to countries that border Russia, in response to the Ukraine invasion. In the U.S., efforts grew to ban the confederate flag in Southern states, and SCOTUS ruled that same-sex marriage is a right and that Obamacare is once again constitutional.
In healthcare business news, it was a slow time before the July 4th holiday with no major M&A.
On the data front, a study showed that cervical HPV lesions are down since the approval of HPV vaccines. Merck (MRK) makes Gardasil and Glaxo (GSK) makes Cervarix.
From the FDA, The Medicines Company (MDCO) received approval finally for blood thinner Cangrelor.
